Blaise Conferences
The International Blaise Users Conference (IBUC) is an international event focused on the use of Blaise and associated software. The conference includes 3 days of presentations with emphasis on the implementation and application of Blaise in a computer assisted interviewing (CAI) environment. The conference is organised roughly each 18 months and it currently alternates between Europe and North America. The conference is the most visible activity of the International Blaise User Group (IBUG). More information, such as conference papers, related to IBUC conferences is available on their site.
The first IBUC was held in Voorburg, The Netherlands, in 1992. The 12th IBUC conference, the IBUC 2009 took place on June 2 to 4, 2009 in Riga, Latvia. It has been organized and hosted by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
The next conference is organised and hosted by Westat, Inc. and will be held October 19 to 21, 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland USA.
The main conference program is not yet final. It will likely include presentations on the capabilities of Blaise, new uses of Blaise to meet the high demands of today’s computer assisted interviewing (CAI) survey environment, and future development of the system.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is May 15, 2010. Abstracts should be 300 words or less. The Scientific Committee will review and select papers for presentation or poster sessions; authors will be notified of their inclusion shortly thereafter.
The Scientific Committee, chaired by Hilde Degerdal, Statistics Norway, reviews abstract submissions for all papers, posters, and technical presentations and subsequently prepares the conference program.
See IBUC 2010 for more information on this event.
